The Right Honourable Sumru Çörtoğlu,

President of the Council of State

 

            President Çörtoğlu, born in Tokat on 13 May 1943, graduated from Ankara Dame High School. After finishing School of Law of Ankara University in 1966, she started her professional career as an auditeur of the Council of State on 29 December 1966. Her professional title was changed to Judge Rapporteur on 14 May 1981. Having also worked as a Senior Judge Rapporteur, Justice Çörtoğlu was elected as a member of the Council of State on 10 September 1992 and as the President of the Fourth Division on 2 February 2001. On 2 May 2006 she was elected to the Presidency of the Council of State by the Plenary Assembly. She is married with two children.
